Sweet Honey's collective voice, occasionally accompanied by hand percussion instruments, is filled with soulful harmonies and intricate rhythms. Founded in 1973, this Grammy Award-winning African American female a cappella ensemble is composed of six African American women who create a blend of lyrics, movement and narrative that variously relate history, point the finger at injustice, encourage activism, and sing the praises of a good and loving life lived.
